The conference “Archaeology for the People” addresses all those professionally interested people in public archaeology, (open-air) museums, living history and interpretation. While archaeologists discover ever more sites and gain insight in the past, the challenge is to convey these stories accurately to the public in an appealing way. There are many formats on how to tell the stories, archaeology teaches us. Over 300 archaeological open-air museums show one way, a multitude of live interpretation professionals are active every day, and many people demonstrate archaeological known techniques like flint knapping in museums, public libraries and many other sites. We invite all these people to Lithuania for the conference 'Archaeology for the People'.

The conference takes place September 13-15, 2018 and is organised by EXARC together with the Administration of the State Cultural Reserve of Kernavė in Lithuania (Kernavė Archaeological Site). Venue will be the Administration of the State Cultural Reserve of Kernavė, Kerniaus 4a, LT-19172 Kernavė, Širvintų distr., Lithuania. This site is very close to Vilnius which is well reachable through its international airport.
Second co-organisor is the International Museum Theatre Alliance Europe (IMTAL), a network for Live Historic Costumed Interpretation at historic places, open air museums and museums. More information about the conference find here: https://exarc.net/meetings/kernave.

Costs for the conference including one day excursion are 95 EUR for EXARC Members and 105 EUR for non-members.
