Based in the Northwest, I have been working with museums, heritage sites and art galleries throughout the UK for fifteen years: as a creative consultant, script-writer, director, actor/facilitator, maker and mentor. Current projects include: "Playing Out in Manchester" (working title) - funded by the Arts Council, Grants for the Arts, I will be working with Matt Wardle and Alison Hale to create a participatory performance that will link with the collections and galleries of three cultural venues in Greater Manchester. John Rylands Library, Salford Museum and Art Gallery and the People's History Museum are actively seeking to build relationships with local schools with specialist support provision and are involved in the creative development of this session for children and young people with special educational needs. I am thrilled that Manchester Metropolitan University's RIHSC and Horse and Bamboo Theatre are also involved with the project. "Mr Ordinary's Prize" - writing a picture book for early years visitors based on a performed original story that I devised about two years ago. Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, this project with the People's History Museum in Manchester will see the book launched in July as part of the Manchester Children's Book Festival. "Once Upon a Wartime", with the Imperial War Museum North - a series of workshops with Year 3 and 6 pupils at Willowtree Primary School in Salford. As a professional writer, the children and I are playing creatively with a number of children's stories about war and exploring the themes of identity and loyalty. The children's own writing will be celebrated at the museum as part of the Manchester Children's Book Festival in July. "The Quest for the Four Givens" - a story for 8 - 14 year olds and their families. Sam and his older sister Jasmine are trapped in a quest to find objects that represents the Four Givens - the four existential truths about our lives: freedom, isolation, meaning and the end.
